Belching

Belching or burping is pretty commonplace. In fact, it is quite natural to burp or belch a few times a day. However, if you feel that your burping is getting too excessive and is already causing you gas pains and bloating, then your situation can no longer be considered normal. Burping or belching is a natural reaction of our body to excessive air in the stomach. But sometimes due to reasons like stress, greasy food, etc. it can become very frequent and inconvenient.

Indigestion might be caused by a disease in the digestive tract such as ulcer or gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD), but for many people, it results from eating too much, eating too rapidly, eating high-fat foods, or eating during stressful conditions. Indigestion accompanied by smallness of breath, sweating, or pain radiating to the jaw, neck, or arm.

The best holistic treatment that I know of, is homeopathy. Homeopathy works by stimulating your immune system. But to do that you need to be able to match your unique symptoms with those of the most appropriate medicine. Confine your symptoms to those of your digestive disorder, rather than bringing in other symptoms. Do not swallow air when speaking. This is a very common problem to many people. When we speak about something we tend to unconsciously swallow air. Ask someone from your family to help you control your excessive burping. Ask them to look at you when you speak and give you a signal every time you swallow air.

While all belches sound similar, each has a distinct personality. Bombshell belches, for example, come from your stomach. They are spontaneous and involuntary. Bombshells happen when they happen. And they smell like whatever it was that you last ate. This can be a problem if you're seated at the dinner table or meeting your girlfriend's father for the first time. The most important home remedy for gas is garlic soup. Garlic soup not only reduces intestinal gas but also helps to increase digestion. Grind together little garlic with little cumin, black pepper and coriander seeds. Add water, boil and take in two divided doses. Make a mixture of 5-6 chopped basil (tulsi) leaves, 1/4 tsp sea salt, and some black pepper in 3 tbsp of curd, and then eat it. Repeat this 4 times a day for one week for total reconditioning of stomach.

Eating fruit well apart from meals is also recommended, because apparently it will otherwise ferment and not be easily digested. Fruit on an empty stomach will pass through the stomach very quickly. Starchy fruits, such as bananas take slightly longer, but again they are quickly digested by an empty stomach. Many people recommend eating fruit for breakfast with the less starchy fruits eaten first and then followed by bananas, figs, dates etc about 15 mins later.

The stomach is equipped with these acids in order to be able to digest the food. The acids are released when foods enter the stomach. However some foods are difficult to digest than the others. For such foods, the stomach needs to secrete more acids. Continuous secretions of such acids could lead to acidity in the stomach. Aloe Vera is another plant based remedy that seems to be widely recommended. However it should be said that you have to take it about 20 minutes before your meal and it should be a properly prepared extract of the plant juice as Aloe Vera also contains powerful laxatives.
